Be Part of a New Research Study
Dear friend,
We thank you for your interest to become part of the research projects. We deeply appreciate that you made a decision to support humanity by allowing findings of your healing process to be shared with others (confidentially with your identity protected), and in this way inspire others to benefit from these wonderful healing systems. Everyone has the power to heal and everyone’s power can be markedly enhanced by using Tao Calligraphy practices.
When you decide to enter our study, first you will need to go through the screening process. If you are eligible to participate, you will need to fill out an application and give us consent to participate in the study. This takes probably about ½ hour to do. After these formalities are finished you will be given a confidential ID and password to go to our website to fill out a short initial questionnaire. It takes about 10 minutes to finish.
After this, we will assign you either to the practice group or to the observation group. This is done randomly. Those in the practice group will right away start practicing mindfulness exercise with Tao Calligraphy. There will be an introductory session with a certified teacher who will explain to you all the details of the practice with Tao Calligraphy.
You will meet with the group of other research participants to practice together once a week, or twice a week if necessary, and you can also practice Tao Calligraphy daily at least 30 minutes on your own. All together you will practice for six weeks. After the end of the six-week practice, we ask you to fill out the two questionnaires on the website again and we ask you to stop practicing Tao Calligraphy for another six weeks, after which you fill out the questionnaire on the website for the 3rd and last time.
If you are selected into the observation group, you will simply wait six weeks. At the end of these first 6 weeks, you will fill out the questionnaires on the website and have your introductory session with the teacher and start practices regularly – once a week with the group and daily for 30 minutes on your own, just as the first group did. At the end of the six weeks, we ask you to fill out the questionnaires a 3rd and last time.
That will be the end of your participation in the study. Afterwards, if you enjoy the practices, you can continue, or if you enjoy something else, you are free to choose.
At the beginning of the study, you will also receive a one-time energy transfer to help you to practice. This is given remotely as a gift. You will also receive a copy of the Tao Calligraphy so you can use it for your practices. We will offer you six or more free sessions to practice with the teachers. All of this will be given to you for free in the package in appreciation for your participation in the study.
After we finish collecting data from the required number of people, we will analyze the data and present findings at conferences, hospitals, and universities, and write scientific papers. In any material that appears in public, you will never be identified in any way. Your confidentiality is going to be strictly protected.
We observe all necessary guidelines and laws that are pertinent to the research in North America, in the US and Canada. We observe the principals outlined in the Belmont report by the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research, U.S. Government, the Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects ('Common Rule') 2017, U.S. Government, the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (Canada, 2005), the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki (1964 - 2000), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Only a very limited number of people on the research team will know your name and Identifiers. The rest of the research team will know the records only according to a numeric ID. We will store your data for seven years in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
You are free to withdraw your consent to participate in the study at any time. We will follow any HIPAA guidelines related to retaining the documents you provide us.
As a rule, we do not require a copy of your chart or extensive medical information except for a simple letter from your doctor with your diagnosis confirmed and medications you are taking. That is basically all.
We of course never claim that Tao Calligraphy practice can replace conventional medicine. We always advise everyone, during participation in our research, to continue conventional treatments, follow advice of your doctors, psychologists, or any other medical practitioners and we also advise everyone to continue to take your medications and other treatments that you usually take.
